After three days of maritime industry and navy showcases and engagements The Indo-Pacific International Maritime Exposition 2022 (Indo-Pacific 2022) has exceeded all expectations for Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems.

Group Managing Director Mike Deeks CSC says that Indo-Pacific 2022 provided a welcome return for Blue Ocean Marine Tech System to face-to-face engagement with the international marine and defence community.

“Since the COVID pandemic started in 2020, we have had very restricted interactions with government, industry and defence representatives,” Mr Deeks says.

“The opportunity to meet clients and customers and potential partners face-to-face, in some instances for the first time, and discuss current challenges and opportunities was incredibly valuable.”

“Special thanks must go not only to our nine personnel who travelled from Perth and the UK to Sydney and those that supported from Bibra Lake, but to the Western Australian Minister for Defence Issues, The Hon Paul Papalia CSC MLA and the staff of Defence West for making it possible for us to attend.”

Significant pre-planning was undertaken to deliver a highly successful Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems representation as part of the Defence West stand.

Located on the entry corner of the Defence West stand, the Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems team engaged strongly with visitors through foot traffic, and pre-arranged meetings with Navy, defence industry and government representatives.

As part of the Defence West stand, Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems transported its full-scale Teledyne G2 glider model which was displayed as a focal point.

The Indo-Pacific 2022 organisers confirmed:

  • More than 25,000 visitor attendances across the three days

  • 736 participating exhibitor companies from 23 countries, a 12 percent increase on 2019 and the largest number of participating companies in the history of any AMDA Foundation event

  • An exhibition space 11 per cent larger than the previous record set in 2019

  • More than 70 conferences, symposia and presentations, including the Royal Australian Navy’s Sea Power Conference, King-Hall Naval History Conference and Sailors’ Forum

  • 115 official defence, industry, academic and government delegations

  • More than 40 nations represented, with 39 Chief of Navy Counterparts or their representative from around the world

As part of the Indo-Pacific 2022, Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems proudly partnered as a silver sponsor for the Australian Association for Unmanned Systems (AAUS) Autonomy in the Maritime Domain conference.

The sponsorship provided networking, branding, and speaking opportunities. A highlight of the conference was the panel discussion on autonomous undersea technology which included Blue Ocean Marine Tech Systems’ Research Engineer Dr Curtis Armstrong.

Our Group Business Development Manager, Tim Walton, presented a compelling and entertaining ‘pitch’ at the Indo-Pacific 2022 PitchFest which significantly raised our profile.
